The academic staff of the Jean Monnet Module Solidarity in European Union Law is happy to announce two SoEULaw lectures on “Social Rights and Solidarity in Europe“.

 

Social Rights and Solidarity in Europe – Prof. Elisabetta Catelani

The lectures will deal with Social Rights and Solidarity in EU law. During the course, special attention will be given to the implementation of constitutional social rights focusing on gender issues, labour rights and health. The main issue of this course will therefore be to understand the role of solidarity in access to justice and justiciability throughout EU courts.

 

Elisabetta Catelani is Full Professor of Public Law at the University of Pisa. She holds a PhD in Public Law from the University of Florence and she has been teaching since 1989 Public Law, Environmental Law, Constitutional, Comparative Law, Government Organization and Regional Law. She is currently a member of the teaching Committee of the PhD course in Legal Sciences at the University of Pisa, where she supervises PhD thesis; also, she has been appointed as a member of the final examination Committee in many PhD courses in Italy. The fields of her scientific interest are Constitutional Courts, sources of law, powers of Prime Minister and Ministers in the Italian system of government, organization of public administration, fundamental rights and social rights, in particular equal opportunities law and health law, regional law. She is member of the scientific committee of legal journals and referee of many legal journals and series. She was Chairman of the Statutory Guarantee Committee, Tuscany Region, until 2020. In June 2013, she has been appointed by the Italian Prime Minister as a member of the Constitutional Reforms Commission. She has been a member of Tecnic Committee of legislation of Marche Region since 2019.
