The academic staff of the Jean Monnet Module Solidarity in European Union Law is happy to announce three SoEULaw lectures on “Right to Health and Solidarity in EU Law”.
Right to Health and Solidarity in EU Law – Prof. Pietro Milazzo
The course will analyse the role of EU Law for the implementation of solidarity in health matters and will point out the tools and the mechanisms which have been adopted to reduce health inequalities in the EU.
The lectures will focus on the social inclusion of immigrant foreigners (not EU citizens) belonging to linguistic minorities, with reference to the protection of their right to health. Students will learn that the European Council has adopted a decision related to the link between the health of immigrants and the health of all EU citizens.
Specific attention will be given to the interpretation of Art. 35 of the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, devoted to “Health care”. The Italian national approach to solidarity and health will also be debated in class. Case law will be analysed as well to identify the legal value of various situations related to health and social inclusion in the EU and also specifically in Italy.
